Pros:. It's free of charge. And this free thing is limited to OpenStreet Maps. Cons:. A ton. Not even close to any paid navi software. Gosh, you cannot lookup POIs in a specific area unless you've specified a destination address.
In Here Drive+ moving the map towards some area and typing 'Somename Hotel' in search would be enough to find the hotel. In MapFactor it's no way. Please specify Country, City, Street, and. Sometimes even the house number. What if I don't know the street? I just know the name of the hotel.
Can I navigate using Map Factor? Definitely no. Recommended only as a companion map. OpenStreet maps have a very good level of detail. While it does work quite well there are a couple of items that could be improved. I wish the map scrolling speed was faster as I can be past the intersection before the display indicates I am at the intersection. I also wish the text was larger so it is easier to tap.
There doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the voice while navigating. Minimally I wish I could have it give a 'ding' when approaching an intersection instead of the voice prompt.
One nice thing is it seems easier on the battery than Here. Now that Here is abandoning Windows Phone, that doesn't really mean too much.
