Please check out my Patreon! How to distinguish which Turkish Mauser. Hey, I recently became the owner of a Mauser Rifle that I got from my grandfather. He picked it up while he was deployed in Europe during 1945. I checked the caliber with a pair of calipers and it looks like a 8mm (though I'm not sure).
I thought it might be a Turkish Mauser based on pictures I have seen of them online. Is there anyway to run a serial number check to find out?. And is it a serviceable weapon? Can I shoot it without hurting myself or the gun?) I'd appreciate any feedback.
If it is a Turkish 8mm Mauser (and shootable) where can I get ammo for it? Here is a link for ammo if it is 8mm. I personally have never seen a Turk Mauser that was a WWII GI war trophy so I would definitely look forwards to seeing pictures especially of all the receiver markings etc. If it didn't turn about to be a Turk Mauser some of the astute members her would probably be able to help you identify it. All the Turks that I have had were imported in the last several years and most are good shooters, but if you are unsure of the condition, caliber, head space, etc.
